Littleton Franklin Lecture: David Lynn

Time: Feb 08, 2011 (04:00 PM)
Location: Sciences Center Auditorium

Details:

Our bodies, our food, and our environment are complex assemblies of molecules able to organize themselves into wholes and function collaboratively. David Lynn and his research group at Emory University are working to understand the ways in which these arrays of molecules assemble and organize themselves. He and his collaborators hope that these investigations can open the way to a deeper understanding of diseases, such as Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases, and to designing substances to treat other diseases. More fundamentally, Professor Lynn hopes that grasping the ways in which molecules can assemble themselves into larger and more complex molecules will enhance human understanding of the origins of life itself and the ways in which living beings transform themselves to address new challenges.
